atrophy

life is getting in the way of blogging and photographing.  more to the point, work is getting in the way.  there are days that i envy people at home that can take time out during the day to write, to photograph, to visit.... but i know my responsibilities and what i need to do.  and being a bit envious of it all...well that serves no purpose.  so... just know i wish i was there with you exploring.

then the weekend comes and it seems that i work a lot on weekends too.  now i could fuss and kick and pout about that...but, believing in doing the very best - i can't leave what needs to be done...undone.  last week was testing - this weekend was doing root cause analysis about why our system didn't go live as it was expected.  *sigh*

tomorrow is taking care of contingencies and explaining to the powers that be why it happened.  in the mean time - i got to visit my girls for about an hour - they're getting over colds just like me.  i can't believe she's not a baby anymore.  she's not even a toddler.  she got her first official haircut.  i have determined i cannot blink anymore - i'm sure to miss something like a wedding or a graduation.

i hope my shutter finger hasn't atrophied.  hope you had a beautiful weekend.

  1. Oh gosh...sorry you have been buried with work stuff. It is crazy...you blink and years go by. Another reminder to live in the moment.

  3. You know how it goes Char, time slips away in a instant especially when they're growing. If only I could say that about the teenage years. Ha!

You do what you can when it comes to blogging and don't worry. Your followers will be here waiting.

  4. What a sweet little face! You have only to look at that photo to realize your trigger finger has most assuredly not atrophied.

  7. I know exactly how you feel. I chaff against my daily life so much, wishing instead to be a free spirit able to drift here and there...free to learn and create and think and explore. Oh well, time to log off and start the work day....maybe things will be different someday. Or maybe not. I'll just have to find time to squeeze it all in to this one life I've got.

  8. hang in there! i hope things slow down and get easier at work VERY SOON!

and love the photo! it is so bonkers how quickly they grow up. i can't keep up with my nieces and nephews. it is just nuts how fast they grow and change.

  9. You're not alone! I've been mourning my lack of free time lately and the busy, busy, busy makes it hard to feel inspired. Fingers crossed that things slow down soon!

  13. She's getting older and more beautiful every day. Don't worry, you aren't missing it, it just feels like it some days. You'll get it. And no, by the portraiture, your shooting finger is not atrophying, you are still catching the beauty.

  15. I know... it's tough and it's funny that you should post this today. I was thinking about you and wondering how you fit in your photography and blogging when you work full time like I do. I guess the answer is we do what we can do. I so admire your work, this picture is beautiful!!!!

  21. It's called "mission creep" Char. It's those tasks from work that creep into our lives and make us think that the only important thing is to do it and to it now because so many people are reliant on you whereas truly, they should take some time off as well.
If it doesn't "go live" when it's suppose to doesn't mean you fail, it just means that you need support in purposefully and conscientiously pushing the timeline back so you can get the product you are proud of on the table for your superiors to present.
But this is not about me . . .

  24. it's true they grow up so fast. i get frustrated with the work getting in the way too, but that's just the way it goes sometimes and I'm sure when you get the chance you will find your fingers will work just fine for the shutter release. have a beautiful weekend.
