the soon-yi moment

Julia Sweeney describes it as the moment you realize you can no longer support someone. I'm totally stealing that...it's brilliant! Of course I think she's clever anyway.

Now I must compile a soon-yi list...not to be comfused with a Murtock list or anything else of that sort.

You know what can be uncomfortable though? Watching Two and One-Half Men with your ten and fourteen year old nephews...and, they get the jokes.

  1. Your comment about your nephews,.. I work in a highschool and I understand that reality! it's more that I don't get what they are talking about at times... scary, eh?

  2. LOL for real...the youngest I think didn't quite get it but he was laughing anyway. reminds me of the time when I was in 3rd grade and someone asked me if my parents slept nude and I said yeah but I didn't know what the word meant.

  4. Julia Sweeney is brilliant. I remember laughing and crying at the same time listening to her one woman show God Said Ha!

I'm glad she's still here. Very funny lady.

(I haven't seen the tv show so can't comment on that.)

  9. Uncomfortable is that two and a half men is STILL on TV.The other day, Jon Cryer was wearing lemon coloured slacks.(oh God, I hate that word. That and blouse.) You know, we all have that chubby aunt that would squeeze you til a rib cracked all the while telling you how sweet you look in those slacks and that pretty blouse with the embroidery and peter pan collar. ( She made the blouse of course)

  10. Ok, I'm loathe to admit this, but I secretly watch Two and Half Men. Ok, there I said it.
And most of the time, I think it's funny.
You'd be surprised at how much 10 year old kids know. Especially if they have a 14 year old brother.
    Um, yeah.

  11. My son (he's 8) laughs but thankfully he's only laughing with the laugh track or because Mommy laughed and not because he "gets" it. All too soon he will get it and I'm just going to treasure the innocence in the meantime.
