it's a dude's world

i felt like cooking and experimenting.  so, i perused some magazines and some websites looking for a bit of inspiration.  well, with a name like "dude's pasta" you know that i had to try it...right?  wouldn't you?

here's my insight.  it was good - just not my favorite dish.  however, if you love the taste of fennel or sweet italian sausage - it's wonderful.  i think the full pint of heavy cream is a bit much - if i make it again, i would cut that in half.  it also needed a bit more garlic to me so i would up the volume on the garlic.

i'm not sure where the name for the dish was derived from....it didn't seem particularly manly to me...or something the 'dude' would make. i don't even feel the urge to go bowling now.

otherwise..it's been a quiet weekend.  i planted flowers, i read, i coughed, i cooked, i washed...i coughed some more.  i think i will go read some more.

  1. I wish I loved to cook as you so obviously do. I just don't for some reason. Gardening is my thing.

  2. My husband doesn't like Italian sausage (I know! What's up with that?) so he wouldn't be digging the Dude's Pasta. Sounds good to me, though.

  13. I am glad you are feeling better Char. Cooking always seems like a good tonic when you're feeling less than 100% I had to laugh at the Dude Pasta, it really doesn't sound very dude-ish, you're right. I "made" brunch for a friend - more like bread, cheese, olives, eggplant dip, pre-cut fruit and mimosas. But it was satisfying nevertheless. Hope you feel a lot better soon!

  14. I'm mainly vegetarian, (I eat fish) so would probably give the sausage a miss but I seriously love fennel, (though am a bit confused coz I can't seee the fennel listed as an ingredient, tho I might not be looking!) so might give this a try!

  22. Mmmm, that sounds good! I'll save that for when my daughter is away at school -- she's a very picky eater... but I'll bet my "dude" will like it. :)
