i've finally noticed that the clock on the capital is much like the pivotal clock tower in "back to the future" - stuck at one time that is correct only twice a day. which leads to me the beautiful day that awaited me after getting a full night sleep and waking up with the sunrise. a sunrise that is at the correct time for my body clock. typically by this time of year i'm really protesting getting up as it's still dark outside.
let's face it world...i'm an owl and not a lark. i'm the first to admit it.
so when the time changes in the fall, i am - for a couple of weeks - happy to get out of bed and feel refreshed. there is something for that piece of happiness. it makes the days so much better.
today's gratitude - i'm thankful for that wonderful feeling of getting enough sleep and having the right attitude for getting back to work. i'm grateful for the change in time that gives me a great way to wake up in the morning - that beautiful rose colored light. it's small, but so very important.
today on my ipod - i'm savoring whole cd's today - so far: tapestry by carole king, cracked rear view by hootie & the blowfish, and misguided roses by edwin mccain.
Hear, hear. That extra hour has done wonders for helping me feel refreshed the last 2 mornings.
ReplyDeleteOMGosh...we were thinking along the same "time" line today for our gratitude!! :) Love that photo!!
ReplyDeleteI am only now getting used to our time change (that was like a month ago!)It amazes me how one little hour lost can take mornings of grumpiness to finally get used to!
ReplyDeleteAmazing what such a small thing as the light in the morning can do for a person.
ReplyDeleteoh that light......how i love it and need it !
ReplyDeleteand sometimes i'm an owl....and my eyes are just as huge :)
and sometimes it's the lark in me that takes over....
moods....oh we women :)
I prefer Standard time, and wish they'd go back to setting the clocks back in October instead of this late in the year. Happy Sunrises to you :)
ReplyDeletelove that little observation about the clock. very cool.

Wouldn't it be great if we could just live life closer to our circadian rhythm all of the time?
ReplyDeletethe time makes it so much darker in the evenings; at abiut 430 the sun is going down, so much different than our summers. glad you are well. hugs.
ReplyDeleteit was nice to get another hour of sleep, and wake up when it was SLIGHTLY less dark (i get up very early). but i kind of want it all -- i'll take the sun and dawn, and at dusk. i love it in the summer when it is light out until 8:30 pm. i think i want it all. and half the time i'd rather be hibernating! bhahaha! such a mess! :)
ReplyDeleteI am a totally a night owl. This morning I woke up feeling so refreshed and noticed that I could sleep in an extra half hour!! I love when that happens!
ReplyDeletewhat a marvel that photo is char... i get up early and go to bed late..your gratitude is catching!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you... I don't think my body buys into this whole daylight savings time thing!
ReplyDeletelol you are right...never noticed that either.
ReplyDeleteChar, I've always loved the time change for exactly the same reasoning. I woke this morning at 6:30!!!! (without a job I've become a late late sleeper) Thanks to the sun, I'm bright eyed and bushy tailed today as well.
My favorite times of the year are the few weeks of early morning sunlight after the fall time change and the few weeks of early morning sunlight before the time change in spring.
I have to agree with you! Love the light in the morning...but I hate that it is now only 5PM and totally dark! Just a little while ago I would just be starting out on a walk at this time...I won't go in the dark...
ReplyDeleteBeautiful image! I've been trying to accept the darker afternoons by turning all the lights in the house on at 4:00 pm and making sure I get out as early in the am as possible... but I still miss light evenings!
ReplyDeletei am the same way. a few weeks before the time changes i struggle to get out of bed in the morning - but now it's much easier for me - more natural feeling.
ReplyDeleteI wish I was a wake up at sunrise kind of girl, but, sigh....I am just not. But the pictures I could take! I will have to yank myself off the pillows one of these days just to capture the beauty of that first light....perhaps when there is a frost.
