confessions

i'm totally unprepared for cinco de mayo - it crept up on me like...well, a sneaky little holiday.  does that mean that i get to have dinner out tonight instead of making dinner at home?  *crosses fingers* i think it does actually.  i could really enjoy a pitcher of margaritas and some nachoes tonight.  yum
time for some confessions:
1.  my 365 is for all intents and purposes doa - i just do not have enough things to photograph during the course of my day - especially when it's rare that i get out the door to lunch.  and the bottles are quite weary.  i will continue to post shots to that website as i take them, but it will not be daily.
2.  despite all the fancy lotions and potions i've owned over the years - simple jergens remains my favorite lotion.  i wish it still came in the bottle with the black and white label.
3. i'm a southern girl that does not like raw tomato or mayonaisse.  (give me the miracle whip)
4. i really dislike the music players and flash bits on the websites - it makes it very difficult to visit a lot of the sites during the day (when i have some spare moments) and then by night - the blogs can get so buried in the 200+ that i have on my reader, i may miss some of your posts.  so if you noticed me absent lately - that could be the issue.  i only have ie at work and some blogs crash my computer with all the fancy gadgets.  i come to read you and look at your photography - music is great - but your work is even better.

so...question - do you celebrate cinco de mayo?  if so, what are you doing today?
also - what are your plans for mother's day?

  1. It is interesting what will trigger a memory...today as I read your post the smell of Jergen's almond scent came to me in a rush...along with memories of my Aunt Lil who always had a black and white labeled bottle of it at her kitchen sink...a pleasant memory!

Tonight I am going to make taco salad using ground turkey...avocados, cilantro, mangoes, tomatoes...all were on sale today:)...What I would really like is a nice big Martguerita to go with it:)

  4. My 365 is doa too, with all the portrait sessions I am taking on and my work and everything else, it just didn't end up factoring in. Just decided yesterday actually.

  6. The 5th of May will always be the anniversary of my husband's first brain surgery, six years ago now. So I will be quietly celebrating with him ~ the fact that he's still alive. He probably doesn't think there's much to celebrate. But for me it's another story.

Mother's Day? I think I will spend it doing whatever I feel like doing. Probably finishing up the planters I've been working on.

  9. Cinco de Mayo-just another day...we had mexican last night at Rodeo's...Yummy. Jergens extra healing-the only thing I use and have for years. I love my playlist...and have had more good comments about the tunes than bad ...so I got to keep it! Mother's Day will be celebrated with both families with some good cooking, making plans now!
Have a good day and week!

  10. Cinco de Mayo....oh how I'd love a big pitcher of Margaritas and some chips and salsa. But that doesn't go well with kids ;) So, tonight is hamburgers with the brother. YUM!

Funny you mentioned the tunes...I added them to my photo blog and some days I love it (they're my favorites) then some days I click over there and I just hate to hear the music start up, LOL. Today I just went in and made my playlist manual start. So, if you're in the mood for music, you'll have to click play. I just *thought* I'd like it playing automatically. But, I don't.

Hope your 5th of May is wonderful...and hope you get dinner out :)

  12. First - lovely photo - the colors are serene!
Second - I too could do without the music - I can't read and listen to something at the same time. I'm impaired in some way.
Third - my SIL once told her teacher she was from a "mixed" family...her father liked Hellman's and her mother like Miracle Whip.
    What was your question again?
    Told ya I'm impaired.

  13. No, didn't really celebrate. But then I guess every day is a celebration. Watching things growing and blooming outside. I keep my sound off. I'm not one for music on blogs I guess.

  15. No we do not celebrate it here, just another day,and yes it has to be Miracle whip. Thank you Char for your comment today. it meant a lot to me. your a sweetheart. And there is never enough time in a day, people know you will get to visit when you can....as for the music, remember that tweeting bird I had on mine....It drove me crazy, so no music on mine...although sometimes I like to listen on others. take care.

  16. helllloooo dahling!!! c'est moi.. back from my travels and gingerly peeking back into the blogosphere. Do not celebrate Cinco de Mayo... why would I??? I'm a brit in South GA???? I do however celebrate Mother's day with gusto... my own freakin' day... heck yeah!!! I have invested in not one but two gift certificates to two of my local downtown shops.. yes I bought them for myself! HA. We're going out to a friends "farm" to celebrate by eating good food and fishing and relaxing that kind of thing.
confession... my 356 is doa too. sigh.
    missed ya.... <3

  17. The only thing that cinco de mayo means to me is that I can plant annuals because there shouldn't be any more frosts.

Miracle Whip? It's a southern thing then. I always prefered mayo, but then, I am a Yank.

  30. Gotta have Miracle Whip on my tomato sandwiches! ;)

I'm with you on the fancy-fancy sites. I think it distracts from the photos. The music doesn't bother me as much, although it sure does make it SLOW to load. And I wish people would learn to resize their pics...improves the load speed tremendously.
