have you seen this guy?

ok...so i admit that i read oprah's magazine. i know, she's gone all new agey and self-righteous but there are parts of it i really love, especially the "aha moments" and the photography. this month she has this article about how to boost your spirits which was common sense stuff...but the photographer on the shoot really caught my eye. his name is rodney smith. have you heard of him?

these are a few of his shots that caught my eye.

  1. it can never hurt to see good photography, no matter where you find it.

    and oprah's always been self-righteous. :-)

guilty pleasures are the best, aren't they?

  3. Julie - LOL you're right, she's been that way for quite a while. and she is a very guilty pleasure in magazine form.

Emily - I know, right - he is a cross between Henri Carter-Breeson and something surreal.

  4. I am not an Oprah fan but I love her magazines. Strange huh? The first photo takes my breath away. I cannot take a good photo and am envious/curious/love all those who can.

  5. I always wonder how they find these locations. and I know there is lighting and assistants and so on, but these are beauties.

  10. Wow. That first photo reminded me of the final shot in The Third Man, one of my favorite all-time movies for looks alone...although this shot is way more optimistic.

    Very, very cool.

I'm another one who has little time for Oprah, yet her magazine intrigues me and I look at it all the time (I hesitate to say I "read" it)

Does he sell his photos anywhere *whistles and tries to look humble as you search for that info because I'm too damn lazy to click.

But you are right, his work is good.
Now through that Grace Kelly doll into a ditch and tear rip the shit out of them, cover them with...anyway,nice find.

I do not discuss Oprah in public.

    Damn confidentiality cops.
You look through one person's garbage once and sheesh, the Black Hawks are there.

Heh.That was kinda fun, actually.I may be becoming delerious.

Is it time for my 'nilla wafers, juice and blanket for nap time.

    OK.... 'Night
