this is an out take from shooting yesterday - that's the wonderful thing about photography and photoshop. you can take your mistakes and transform them into something else - something magical and etheral. would that we had a giant photoshop program to fix all of our out takes in our life, right? *smile*
nothing special to say tonight really - just a lot of whimsical thoughts. today i watched the rain fall over the overgrown chinaberry trees and thought about the book (soon to be a movie)where the wild things are. the rain created this misty effect and as the temperature changed, the windows began to steam over - creating a dreamy world. were monsters watching me watching them? i only saw the black and white stray dashing in between the bushes - no monsters today.
so, i leave you with a quote by alice hoffman: "there's a few things i've learned in life: always throw salt over your left shoulder, keep rosemary by your garden gate, plant lavender for good luck, and fall in love whenever you can."
today, the things i've learned are: always keep treats around when you have dogs - the joy you give them will be returned one hundred fold, box fans are a comforting sound, good friends are the best present to yourself and fresh flowers always make me smile. (and i always throw salt over both shoulders because i can never remember which one is the correct shoulder)
p.s. - today i read the most beautiful blog by one of my most favorite infrequent writers (wonderings and wanderings). she follows her heart wherever it leads her and i fulfill my yearnings for travel through her adventures (plus i love her photography). today's blog is about serendipity (one of my favorite subjects).
Char I liked how the photo turned out and I agree with you about the dog treats. These guys here would do just about anything for beggin strips. Have a great day.
ReplyDeleteMy dog loves her treats so much that she gets excited when she knows I'm leaving - she always gets one right before I walk out the door. I was wondering about photoshop today - whether its good to use or not - because of my friend here irl doesn't approve of it. But, I'm glad that others out there - like you - think its a good thing to have too.
ReplyDeleteI love the image Char, can't imagine you said it was a mistake. But it was beutiful and perfect in every angle, I guess times to thanks digital image manipulation :-)
ReplyDeleteLovely picture and thoughts, Char!
ReplyDeleteyou made me laugh...all the wonderful things we learn along the way, but I have to agree....ALWAYS have dog treats avaiable :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quote and I love what you added to create your own version!! I love, love, love creating with photoshop... especially with those photos that come out as "mistakes"!!
ReplyDeletethe photo is soft and wonderful as if in a dream.
ReplyDeletei planted lavender because i love the smell but if it will bring good luck – all the better.
yes and what beauty and truth here...i have a few life out takes that could use some Photoshop for sure Char...
ReplyDeletei used to share a flat with someone who threw salt over the left shoulder all the time. it drove me mad - the kitchen floor was always covered in salt!
ReplyDeleteYou always have a way of creating an ethereal layer on your beautiful flower shots. It has a dreamy feel to it .... Hope you are enjoying your summer.
ReplyDeleteYour photo turned out beautifully!...I'm hoping to delve into Photoshop this fall when I have more time to spare...I'm sure I'll be asking for help!
ReplyDeleteSerendipity is the theme of my life...usually for the better and occaisionally for the worse:)
I can never remember the correct shoulder, either! Now I'll remember that the RIGHT shoulder to use is actually the left.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link to a beautiful blog. I love beautiful blogs.
Loved your post today! And I sometimes wish I could photoshop my life . . .
Yep, i am a bona fide salt thrower!

I'm a left shoulder salt thrower, and I plant rosemary by the door of my building for love.
ReplyDeleteI recently started using a box fan and my insomnia is slowly creeping away. It is a comforting sound. I do need to work on the salt throwing bit though. Hope all's well in your world, Char. :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful mistake. It has a magical dream like feel to it. Very very pretty. I can never remember which shoulder so I do both too. Now I know it's the left. I've also got my parents doing it, but I usually have to remind them.
ReplyDeleteSince I was in elementary school I've used an ocilating fan and a ceiling fan in my room at night. It has a way of calming me and sound proofs my room from outside noises.
Have a wonderful weekend. ~Cindy
I haven't read an Alice Hoffman book in ages! I always thought she was so gifted. And her quote is as magical as she is. Down to earth, but writes like she's floating up there with the stars!

OH, this post. This post makes me feel delicious. Like a cold rainy day with nothing to do but curl up on a cozy sofa with a great book you've been dying to read.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, what a gorgeous picture. I love how you worked with it to turn it into a work of art. Beautiful.
