a day in the life

I'm staring until you pet me

Anyone want a cat? Seriously - he's driving me insane. Ok, but....if you change your mind. You know how to reach me.

Twice this week I've tried new adventures in that I just drove down roads to see where it takes me. I have a compass and a notebook (so I can write where I turned) so I figure I can't get too lost, right? I knew those map reading lessons in ROTC would come in handy one day. The first day - I didn't find anything interesting. Today, I went in search of "rustic". I was thinking barns and such.

I didn't find barns but I found a lake. I wish I could have stopped at the purple "Bubba's Grocery" but the guard dogs didn't look very friendly. But...it was a nice drive in the sunshine. On the way home, I stopped by Oak Mountain State Park. It's mostly gray and brown this time of year, but I enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine anyway.

  1. I wish I could take the baby... except my dogs would kill it and I had to get rid of our persian when I realized how allergic I was to their dander.
Secondly, Char, the flag is amazing and the creek shots are too cool...
Seems the sunsets are beautiful in Alabama. Hopefully I can get the hubs to visit maybe if I barter Bama football???

  3. :) I adore my cat but today he was extra clingy. Sunsets here are gorgeous - especially at the beach.

Oak Mountain is beautiful, isn't it?

  5. Love these images, reminds me of my childhood, fishing with dad, spending endless hours just following a creek bed through the woods, letting my imagination roam and being lost in the moment. How wonderful you spent time doing that this week, inspiration for us all.

  6. When we were on our holidays last year I got the kids to pick the next turning to see where we ended up. Somehow we always ended up back at the same place *grin*

  7. Wow, awesome pix. Did you do a cool Photoshop affect on that flag image, or was it the texture from the side of a barn? Very neat.

And, no, no more cats (I actually own three, two at my house and one at my mom's). I laughed when your blog loaded and I saw your cat. After yesterday's cat-stravaganza, I'm felined-out! :)

  8. it's actually two textures that I layered it. I love playing with textures.

I would not give him up actually but we've been going round and round lately about his clinging issues.

  16. I really admire your passion in going to find inspiration. So often we get complacent and uninspired and forget that we are largely responsible for our own inspiration.
