so this was my weekend.....washing, a bit of fun and then waiting on the "ice storm." seriously....waiting on ice - what could be more exciting really?
now i can appreciate the value of weather forecasters but...i think it's gone a tad too far. the shelves of the local grocery were empty of bread, batteries and milk and my town had nothing. really....maybe a few ice patches from where the rain frozen in potholes or the whatnot. now to prepare for that we had three days of horror weather forecasting and schools were shut down on s.a.t.u.r.d.a.y. yes...saturday. now i understand the liability and legalese of the matter but the city went insane and the state shut down.
krazee - really (ugh, why did i type that like a 12-year-old?)
so....*shakes it off* i was mostly a weekend shut in - except for a fun bout of mexican food and bowling with friends on saturday night. the new bowling alley here has these cool lanes with leather sofas and coffee tables - so.much.fun! i hung out and chatted instead of actually bowling. we laughed so much my jaws aches. then... raise your hand if when you drive by krispy kreme and the red "hot doughnuts now" light is on your car takes matters in your own hands until you're sitting in front of that sign digging through your purse for six bucks for those hot glazed? *raises hand* and you know the bad thing, as i sat at home having one...for the first time, it didn't really taste that good. hopefully the jeep will remember that the next time.
anyway, my poor little tulips have now seen their last day. i have to go out this afternoon and see what calls my name. wherever you are, i hope monday is good to you. i hope it caresses your cheek and loves you well.
you know,I said the same thing yesterday watching the forecasts..and what if it doesn't??
ReplyDeleteinsane it is sometimes...
hyper journalism.
enjoy today...
for what it is Char...xx
Happy Monday Char! That night out at the bowling alley sounds like so much fun! I know what you mean about cars having a mind of their own. Mine likes the chik-filet drive thru and I have recently trained it to stop!!

the tulips will come back again...the weather? it wont get any better for what I can see....Have a wonderful week.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog,really lovely!

The forecasters are like that here in New England too. I don't get the bread thing, which happens routinely here too ... Are we making a sandwich supply because it snows and we're inside for one day? Oy.
ReplyDeleteThere is something about a cozy weekend in, isn't there?
ReplyDeleteI think the weathermen go too far sometimes...ours take an afternoon that is stormy and makes an event of it. I do like to know, however, if there's a tornado on my backstep..lol. So I guess we just have to take it. I'm really tired, I've had quite a day..probably write about it later.
ReplyDeletekrazee, indeed, Char. fast pace has its place, but slow is good, too. and the ice storms of our lives remind us to take a break every now and then. good monday to you, also!!
ReplyDeletesounds like a weekend filled with lots of different ways to enjoy life!!
ReplyDeleteAs I am reading this the 6 o'clock news is on in the background warning us of a possible 12 inches of snow Tues night thru Wed morning...I think they LOVE to use scare tactics because it means more viewers/listeners to the news station...they are getting a bit carried away...That being said I am now going to prepare myself for a nice storm by going out shopping tomorrow!
ReplyDeleteLove the tulips and the blue jar:)
Krispy Kreme Doughnuts frighten me. I'm not a big doughnut fan, but Krispy Kreme have so much sugar and so much fat...You should definitely punish the Jeep for making you stop there.
ReplyDeleteGlad the non-bowling went well, you deserve a good night out.
Is it maybe time for Gerber Daisies?
I love when a day caresses my cheek and loves me well. Maybe I will have one of them this week ~
ReplyDeleteCrazy ice storm that wasn't. Can't stand all the hype! But boy, your bowling alley sounds like a blasty blast.
Darling Daughter and I are cocooning today..both having post holiday blues or blahs I suppose. TV, unhealthy food, naps ..you know the days..no complaints...

BTW I need those bumper things to bowl now. lol
Wait...I'm sorry, did I hear you correctly? The Krispy kreme didn't taste that good????? *shakes head* :) It sounds like you had a great time bowling and laughing until your jaw aches is a good thing!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore tulips in their final phases. Lovely image. Stay warm - and out of the Krispy Kreme place! ;}
ReplyDeleteyour bowling excursion sounds like fun, I just love your tulips with that blue jar...oh for spring to come soon. hugs have a great week.
ReplyDeleteI haven't been bowling for ages, that sounds like so much fun! I love the atmosphere of bowling alleys. : )
ReplyDeleteI think growing up in New England I don't take it too seriously. Hell, I was basically born in the blizzard of 78. That doesn't mean I like it, I just don't expect to be stuck in my house with no food.
ReplyDeletehappy to hear all is well...the mexican food and bowling sounds like fun!!!!!
ReplyDeletestay cozy and warm

our shelves were bare too, but we did have snow and a lot of ice! still do :)
ReplyDeleteI'm laughing here. My Mom actually gets annoyed at me because I am so derisive of weathermen. Seriously!! Who else can be WRONG half the time and keep their job?!?!?!?!?
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm having a good day in my jammies and house shoes! Love the way you put words together.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
weather forecast is just that...forecast :) good thing it (the ice storm) didn't come your way..
ReplyDeletewe're having a sunny morning here where i live but i think it will be raining again later..it always did for the last 3 weeks now..
love this photo, by the way...
ReplyDeleteChar, if you are feeling bad that you missed it all, please come to my house. Even though the streets are passable 1 block away, my hill is still covered with the snowy/icy mix. No one but those with big, heavy cars have gone up or down yet. I'm worried because I have a job interview tomorrow that I don't want to miss. I don't want to wreck my little car either.
ReplyDeleteI love a good laugh at a bowling alley ... and Krispy Kremes. Unfortunately, vehicles usually chalk a bad experience up as a fluke ... but good luck all the same ... :)
ReplyDeletehonestly, I never know whether or not to take the weather people for their word. we waited and waited on Sunday for the prediction but it finally came around 9pm and by 10 everything was covered in beautiful snow and kept snowing all night. We ended up with about 5 inches and it was exciting to have the day off on Monday.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to go bowling at a place like that - sounds like a good time.
Gorgeous tulips! Hopenallmis well you... May 2011 be FAB for you!
ReplyDeleteReally? It didn't taste that good? That is good to hear. We don't have a Krispy Kreme in this city, but I saw a news story once about one opening up in Vancouver (not too far from here) and they were talking about those freshly made, still warm ones, and NOTHING looked more enticing. Nothing. Ever since, I have been dying to try one. So, I am secretly glad we don't have a store in this town because I might have a hard time keeping myself away from it. But maybe not, if they aren't all that good?
