gratitude:: day 24 of 30
the holidays are upon us - everywhere there are people bustling to and fro - the scurry becomes frantic and at times, overwrought. even the parking spaces at work are being blocked off now for the parade that takes place tomorrow. it's too soon, too fast, and gone way too early.
i'm grateful that my family is laid back enough that we don't consume ourselves with the worry about topping the years before. we're going out for lunch tomorrow and though it's not my first choice, i've decided to enjoy it because the important thing is that we're together. i will sit and look at the faces around the table and i will be grateful.
so, give yourself a break. so what if you don't have five desserts and six vegetables, turkey and ham. be grateful for the holidays that bring us together in love. i know i am.

ReplyDeleteyes i agree! taking a break and remembering what the season is about is really important!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more! I am taking everything in stride. The reason I did everything early was to avoid the frenzy. Now I feel like I can sit back and relax. And that is something to be thankful for! Have a beautiful Thanksgiving :)
ReplyDeleteHope the holiday is wonderful for you and yours.
ReplyDeleteI so agree, it's what matters. Peace and happiness to you this holiday.
ReplyDeleteThat's an awesome way of looking at this Char.. I love it when you said: "i will sit and look at the faces around the table and i will be grateful." That is what its all about!
ReplyDelete:) Blessings to you my friend!
AMEN....
ReplyDeletewe've lived away so many years and often went out for our thanksgiving day meal and then to a movie or bowling or just back home to watch movies....
and the perfect part...we were all together happy and healthy....
enjoy and hugs to you....
what a wonderful attitude and i agree - i am also thankful that we are a laid back sort of family too. we enjoy a relatively simple dinner - each contributing a dish so it's not hard on anyone - grateful that we are all healthy and can be together.
ReplyDeletehave a wonderful holiday with your family!
sounds perfect. have yourself a wonderful holiday.
ReplyDeleteI'm grateful I'm not expected to do that! But to do what makes me happy on holidays. Which is usually to just have peace and quiet. Happy holidays, blogging friend!

Can't agree more. Have a beautiful one.
ReplyDeleteWe're going to my sister's tomorrow. She wishes we were going out to eat. It is a lot of work and the important thing is having family together. I told her don't worry about the house...there will be so many of us, no one will notice if the house is clean or not.
ReplyDeleteHappy Thanksgiving!
No worries. Just family and lots of laughter.

ReplyDeleteTomorrow is bound to be crazy. So tonight while it is quiet, I wanted to wish you and yours the happiest, most delicious of Thanksgivings. Happy Turkey Day, my friend.
ReplyDeleteJust what I would have said...
ReplyDeleteLike the little boy heard praying..
God, forgive us our Christmases..
amen,
glenda
What a delightfully refreshing approach. It may not be your first choice but you will give it all your heart. Wishing you and your loved ones a blessed and happy Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteYou definately have the spirit! being with your family and loved ones. that is wonderful. Here it is just another day but I am so thankful for so many things. You being one of them.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful image and well said. All to often we get wrapped up in everything having to be perfect and we forgot that spending time with family is what makes it so perfect.
ReplyDeletehappy thanksgiving my friend!
ReplyDeleteExactly! That is why we always do Thanksgiving more or less potluck...that way there is no stress...or at least we are all stressed equally:)
