macro monday, mosaic monday and other m related things
shots that i've taken at the shakespeare gardens since the poppies and larkspur have started blooming. did you know that larkspur is the flower for july? i've known that since i was a kid because my birthday is in july but i never saw larkspur blooming until now. i've decided that i really like the deep purples.
this is an older macro as i've not been really satisfied with any macros lately. i've been making myself way too tense over them. plus, the zinnias (among other things) really took a beating during the rainstorms this month. but i'm not going to complain, we came out very lucky and i want to keep it that way. other people lost their entire houses in the flash floods eight days ago and didn't have flood insurance because they are not located in a flood plain. yes, i'm counting my blessings.
another m word - movies. finally got to see the new star trek movie and enjoyed it. it really kicks starts the series all over again in a very convenient, but nice way. my brother and fellow trekkie was not as happy with it. chris pine is good eye candy (albeit very young eye candy).
sweet dreams and finer things.

ReplyDeleteShall take your advice with the Star Trek movie and see it this weekend... glad you werent affected by the floods. So sad...
Those are a very beautiful...beautiful... pictures!! I am left amazed again :-)
ReplyDeleteThe patchwork quilt of photos is so nice. When you can't pick a fave just do them all in this manner and then frame the whole thing!
ReplyDeleteHi Char, I love the purples, they are beautiful. My sister saw the movie and just loved it. I am glad all is OKAY! We can always find a reason to count our bessing!. take care, Cinner
ReplyDeleteThe Hubby told me my little digital camera would do macro stuff. I have to find that stupid book to figure it out. Great pic's.
ReplyDeleteFirst off Stunning...I just love the quality and color of your photography. You really should make a trip to Buchart Gardens sometime http://www.butchartgardens.com/index.php?option=com_frontpage&Itemid=1 it is beauty beyond your imagination. Being a trekkie I very much enjoyed the movie, and yes Chris Pine is eye candy, but so wasn't Zoe Saldana...mmmmm mmmmmm. My favorite character was Karl Urban. He played a great McCoy and he was very James Stewart like and I totally dug it!
ReplyDeleteI'm always a sucker for a collage. Loving the purple and red together. Poppies are beautiful but larkspur is even lovelier, in my humble opinion. Salvia is pretty, too, but smells terrible. On a side note, my son has been begging to see the new Star Trek movie all week. We'll have to take him. Hope your weekend went well. :)

Our zinnias are nowhere near even existing yet. I've scattered seed but they have yet to come up and greet me in plant form.

ReplyDeleteSo cool. My yard is filled with larkspur and poppies. But out West, our poppies are bright yellow and gold. They're the state plant, illegal to pick, so I won't admit to contents of the small vase on my table.

ReplyDeleteHave a great day!!!
