Easter always falls on the first Sunday after the first full moon after the first day of spring. In other words the order would be:
1. First day of spring
2. First full moon after first day of spring
3. First Sunday after the first full moon is Easter
Complicated!!! And, no, I'm not going to get into the negative as I found out I've been complaining a lot of late. I just know I like things simple. Why not have Easter on the first Sunday of spring then? Or...the first Sunday in April. Or something of the sort. And....what is ironic to me is that the traditional food on Easter is ham. Yeah - think about it for a minute. Ok - caught up now? Just checking.
Maybe I'm grumpy because I've been sick for three days - though I feel a lot better today. Hopefully the sunshine has a lot to do with that. I am sad to say though, I think my little herb garden in the large container has given up the ghost. With all of the rain lately - it's swimming in mud. The basil has withered and died. Only the lavender is holding on. Luckily I put the pineapple sage and dill in another container and it seems to be doing very well. So much for my dreams of yummy goat cheese and basil with roasted red bell peppers. I will just have to buy some fresh basil later.
Today is gorgeous after high winds and heavy rains. I'm thankful that all I lost is some plants and there are only small branches littering the front yard. I need to get out and about a bit I think. I'm tired of only shooting my white tulips. May you have the most beautiful, warmest, brightest, joyful, and happiest of weekends.
That is a gorgeous shot, lady! Hope you have a good weekend and get to feeling back to 100% with sunshine!ReplyDelete
I never felt like you were complaining. Sorry to hear you were/are sick. And I didn't know all that about Easter. But I do know a gorgeous photo when I see one. And this one is luminous.ReplyDelete
Catchy post titles aren't what gets to me. It's beautiful photos.
oh, the thoughts to be thinking about....ReplyDelete
oops....that's a title right there !!!
have a great weekend sweetie and I'd love to see photos of your lavender since it will be awhile before we have any here.....please ?
Nothing blooming here at all yet. Snow is almost gone except for a few places in leftover snowbanks from the plows. Air is still crisp.... maybe in a couple of weeks we'll be warm and have spring flowers? So for now I am so glad for your tulip photos! thanks!ReplyDelete
Glad you're on the mend, Char! Bummer about the herbs. How about starting again, but in small cups on a sunny windsill inside? i am all about never giving up :-)ReplyDelete
that picture is absolutely gorgeous, I'm mesmerized by it!ReplyDelete
Glad your feeling better and I too wonder why they don't just make the 1st Sunday in April. Have a wonderful weekend

Happy Confusing Day Easter, Char! I've never been able to figure that mess out. Thank goodness for calendars!ReplyDelete
Your photography just keeps getting better and better. That tulip, oh my, you can actually see the veins in the petals. Gorgeous.
such a beautiful simple shot.ReplyDelete
Happy Easter to you, Char.
glad you are feeling better.
(and for the record, i don't think you complain too much. if anything, i think you are quite positive and very real.)
I love that tulip shot, looking a little weighed down, with rain maybe? It evokes a thoughtful mood. Have a wonderful weekend!ReplyDelete
sorry you lost some herbs. i fear that mine suffered an awful fate last year, and i just buy them fresh now rather than getting my hopes up. ha!ReplyDelete
hope you have a great easter. :)
I have been feeling the grumpy guts coming on too. I am ready for spring and I am sooooooooooo tired of the winter weather...it snowed again today...and we are having to move and that does not set well with me. I am just so grateful that the sun will be shining soon and I can't help but be happy about that. =]ReplyDelete
lol...at your picture.
You know Easter was a lot earlier for that reason. It is to complicated for me!!ReplyDelete
Happy Easter Char! For someone who is grumpy, you take absolutely magical shots ... inspiring ...ReplyDelete
We had our dinner a day early and guess what? We had ham AND turkey. I would send you some soup if I could. We will all feel better once the warmth and sunshine of springtime comes to stay. Thanks fotr sharing!
It's been quite nice here, too as far as weather (san francisco). I hope you feel better soon :)ReplyDelete
I'm having one of those days too. Everything needs to be done right now and then I think nothing needs to be done. Perhaps the full moon is not a good thing to combine with a long weekend?ReplyDelete
char, how beautiful is this! did i miss this on your stream? i hope you had the best of weekends and a happy easter. today? i'm seeing rain. bleh. :)ReplyDelete
Hope you're feeling better...I feel I haven't visited in a while...ReplyDelete
Easter sure throws me every year too...they could have made it so simple...you're right, why complicate it always?
i did not know that about the scheduling of easter...i always found it quite arbitrary, but i guess it's not. :-) i'm a little behind on my reading, but hope you're feeling better.ReplyDelete
