It was an unpretenious weekend really. Friday was a drop by to see my baby girls (my nieces), Saturday was a fun photoshoot I set up at home and a birthday dinner, and Sunday was church and lunch with the entire family. It was nothing special and everything special if you know what I mean.
We've started a new tradition in that I cook dinner on Monday nights and my sister and her boys (my nephews) come over for dinner and television. It's a wonderful thing that brings joy into my life. Joy is always amazing isn't it?
So serious...but she's such a happy baby.
See...I told you so.
Ta-dah! (this was a series I think she calls "look at me Aunt Lanie")
saw these on facebook, too.
ReplyDeleteyou have a beautiful family.
aww ... so sweet :-)
ReplyDeletesooo cute! Being near your family is such a joy for you -- it really shines through in your photos of them. :)
ReplyDeletePrecious!
ReplyDeletejoy ...embrace it when it comes your way ! being an Aunt is a very special relationship and I can tell you are doing it well Char!
ReplyDeletewhoa.....that baby shot, serious or not...is FABLULOUS !!!
ReplyDeleteholy crap, blow that up into a huge canvas print for her bedroom wall....sooooo cool !!
thanks y'all. that high key B&W shot was a total accident. it was one of those late afternoon long light shots where only her face was shadowed...I salvaged the shot by making it high key and cropping it this way. a very happy accident.
ReplyDeleteNothing special and everything special - those are some of the very best moments in life, don't you think? Such an ease to them.
ReplyDeleteAwesome "Slice of Life" shots, Char.
ReplyDeleteboy these kids are ADORABLE! and such great shots. just fantatic!
ReplyDeleteI love that you find the joy in the more simpler moments in life. I can't think of anything more precious that weekly dinner! You are making an important investment in your family. Also - love the shots ... they really capture the spirit and innocence of children.
ReplyDeleteThat baby face is so precious! Aww...
ReplyDeletenothing special and everything special - yes i know what you mean.
ReplyDeletemy parents and I have a tradition similar to yours. They live close by so when T was home we would go to their house every Sunday for dinner and then we would have them over and cook for them on Monday night. My parents and I still do this even though T isn't home now.
I miss T being home because she would cook much of the time for these occasions and it was always delicious and more creative - I tend to stick to the usual.
This baby face is so precious. I love the expression ..
Such beautiful kids Char, you've captured them so well here.
ReplyDeleteso beautiful...I so wish my sister lived nearby so we could start a similar tradition...xo t
ReplyDeleteMy sisters and I have a similar tradition - Sunday Brunch!
ReplyDeleteThat first picture is GORGEOUS. I love the light.
Such beautiful children - marvelous pictures of them. I love your tradition. I think we have to be careful and conscious to choose time with the children in our families. It just doesn't happen without intentionality. I believe you will always share a special link with your nieces because of the time you invest now.
ReplyDeleteLoved this post. I've always wanted to do a weekly dinner with family. It would be fun.
ReplyDeleteI highly recommend it if you do have close family - it really bonds you.
ReplyDeleteJoy is underestimated and quite often lacking in general. You're a lucky lady indeed myfriend ;)
ReplyDeleteThose sweet babies just undo me.
ReplyDelete*Sigh*
