It's morning here - crisp and cold. The dogs are snoring at my feet, happy and sassy basking in the sun rays slanting through the blinds. The television is on the Today show and I wonder why they are sitting around in Australian bush hats talking Rhianna and Chris Brown. I don't get it.
The smell of fresh cut lemons permeate the room as I had to taste a Meyers lemon to see what makes them so much more expensive than a regular lemon. It has a very mild taste. When I was a child, I can remember sitting and eating lemons with salt - all the time making faces as I enjoyed the intense sour taste. I remember my mom making me stop as she said it would ruin the enamel on my teeth.
I know I need to get busy - shower, dress, shop. I'm making dinner for my sister, her boys and one of my brothers tonight. I should call and see if the rest of the family wants to come over too. But the sun beckons me to sit more. There is always another cup of coffee to be had you know.
Diggin' the Orange. Beautiful color palette, Char.
ReplyDeleteAnother lemon eater!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of Meyers lemons, though.
It looks so innocently edible. Sweet as sunlight. But the word "lemon" makes my teeth ache. Perfect.
ReplyDeleteI love Meyer lemons. They make the best lemonade, too.

I love lemons and I have them in my water everyday but I fight the urge to eat them. I am afraid of what it will do to my teeth.

ReplyDeleteJealous that TX just got nasty wind. I want snow.
Sitting, with or without coffee, is very, very important.
ReplyDeletei, too, love lemons!!mmmm! love the sour! i had never heard of meyer lemons until this year, while reading a food blog i frequent. she loves them and posted several recipes using them (http://faycat.blogspot.com/2009/02/omg-stop-it-with-meyer-lemons.html). i found some the other day and bought them to try making a tart. they are supposed to taste like a cross between a lemon and a mandarin orange, and i think that hits it right! i haven't cooked with them yet, but i find them quite yummy! :)
ReplyDeleteStumbles upon your blog and am lovin it...so I hope you don't mind but I am following...

ReplyDeletelove lemons and salt... with a little dash of cayenne pepper mixed into the salt is really good too, if you like it spicy :-)
ReplyDeleteand, as Foxxxy said, just sitting is very important. we should all try to do it more often.
