Tuesday is housecleaning day - I don't really know why, but I have fallen into the routine. There is something so simple and lovely about working together to get it all done. The smell of Murphy's oil soap, vinegar, lemons and other cleaning supplies are comforting and warm. The duster makes all surfaces clean and bright. The vacuum whirls and the Dustbuster gets all the nooks and crannies.
Slowly my household is being absorbed into the larger house. Bits and pieces of me are finding their way in. I had forgotten how beautiful a house that has light is ... especially when clean. We work together silently - each doing their natural strengths. It's good and happy. And in the end, we are satisfied.
Last night we cooked dinner for the family - making plenty to freeze for lunches and dinners over the next week or so. Dinner was warm and filling. The teenager ate and ate - like a growing young man is wont to do. It made me happy to see him filled. We laughed at television together. Life is very good when in the presence of family.
oh i am in love with that picture. SO ADORABLE. and glad dinner went well and that you are settling in nicely. fab!

ReplyDeleteHouse cleaning going on here today, too. Well, technically closet cleaning. Getting rid of, filing papers, shredding papers and cleaning the top of my desk which hasn't seen the light of day since.....I can't remember when. I hate doing it, but it sure feels good when it's done.
ReplyDeleteBeing with family feels good, too. :)
You just made me miss my extended family. I had to chuckle at the photo...too cute. Is this the one that barks at you and the cat?

Before my world changed last fall, every Saturday was cleaning day. My husband always had to work Saturday mornings, so I was free to clean to my heart's content. When I was done, sometimes I would go out and visit one of my favorite shops and buy myself something as a treat. A little candle, a small decorative item, some flowers.
ReplyDeleteI love a clean home, the scent of cleaning products (especially Murphy's and lemon!!).
