not to incur the wrath of the zombie chickens...and all that

Blog awards are fun...they're like the kudos of myspace but with cute and sparkly pictures. And it's always flattering when someone things enough of you to give you one. Usually I don't re-post them because I would give awards to all of you because I'm that kindergarden teacher that thinks everyone deserves recognition. But this one was so much fun and made me chuckle that I'm going to give it a whirl. (This one is from my my friend, Jill. So without further ado, it's the Zombie Chicken Award.

"The blogger who receives this award believes in the Tao of the zombie chicken - excellence, grace and persistence in all situations, even in the midst of a zombie apocalypse. These amazing bloggers regularly produce content so remarkable that their readers would brave a raving pack of zombie chickens just to be able to read their inspiring words. As a recipient of this world-renowned award, you now have the task of passing it on to at least 5 other worthy bloggers. Do not risk the wrath of the zombie chickens by choosing unwisely or not choosing at all..."

Ok....so, the first person that springs to mind whenever Zombies are mentioned is my friend, Kurt. Kurt's blog, The Monster Apathy, may actually contain from time to time, advice on what to do during a Zombie attack. He's funny and clever - I think he does it to cover up the fact that as a cancer he's sensitive and soulful. If you're ever lucky enough to a catch blog about his family - those are his very best.

Then Mandy at You've Got To Be Kidding Me. Mandy's blogs are a combination of funny and touching - she's a hot momma blogger. Love her writing - always have since I discovered her. She's not one much for awards nor will she tag up and play along...but, she's one I think you should be reading so - I'm giving it to her anyway. Besides, if any zombie chickens bother her, she will just stomp them with her spiky heels. Actually, I don't know if anyone will re-post the awards really so I'm just going to roll with who I recommend.

And Jules....yes, Jules or Tangobaby. I found her one day by clicking on Blogs of Note and have stayed since finding her. She's witty, vulnerable and oh so chic. She also has another blog, I live here: SF, that are stories and pictures of people that live in and love San Francisco. I don't live in San Franciso and I've only visited once - but these stories have beguiled me and made me fall in love with a city. *sigh*

One of my photography icons, Mrs. French at Bliss, always has the most beautiful of beautiful things. She is a photographer in Portland, Oregon, that captures some of the most etheral and blissful images. She also has a keen fashion sense and a love for shoes that rivals Mandy.

And Georgia of the many blogs. I love them all but I think my favorite of the bunch is It's Just How I See Things. Her view of the world and her photography. She's got a new camera so I'm sure she will be out and about capturing beauty everywhere. You can also find her at Jorjah-B, Ethereal (one of my favorite words) and I Click + You Click = Diptych.

And then....my friend, Leaca of Simply Blogged. Leaca and I collaborate together on "far north ~ deep south" but believe me - she does all the heavy lifting with the blog - all I get to do is stand around and look pretty once she puts the dips together. Sorta like being a party when all you had to bring was the paper cups. Her blogs are this delish combo of photography, food, finds and a big ol' slice of life in Alaska. It amazes me that she is living right under a volcano these days. See - stuff you do not get in the south. Like heaps of snow, wonderful king crab and very long days or nights. But...we are so alike.

That's the thing I've found about the blogging world. Though we are all different and approach this community in many different ways...we are all struggling to some extent for the same things - life, love, happiness, humor, beauty, recognition...some mark that we are here, present and alive. That we lived, laughed, and cried. That we matter and mattered.

There are so many other people that I wish I could wrap up and send to you but I can't afford the postage. So, check out my blogroll - it's long...and the guys probably won't get a lot out of it because I tend to read girly bloggers...but, there are a few manly nuggets in there like "Still Breathing", "Fandango", "List of the Day", and "Dr. Bob". There is funny, there are photographers, and heaps of other stuff. If I didn't mention you...I'm sorry - I should have. Please feel free to shamelessly pimp yourself out in the comments section or berate me on the merits of why you should have been chosen for this fine award.

Now I gotta go feed the cat and get dressed. I hear sunshine is going to be out today and I want to go play in it.

  5. miss Char,
at the risk of sounding too dramatic, this came at the perfect time. just today i wrote on Jorjah-B about why i blog—or rather questioning why i blog. i have to say, it is all worth it knowing i have a faithful, interested reader like you. and your blog and photography are so very good (as well as so liked), that i find it an honor that you would include me in this post. i appreciate it more than you know.

    XOX

(i'm a big fan of Leaca as well, but i have never checked out these others, so i will have to today.)
