slumdog millionaire

if ever you want to feel better about your situation or know what true poverty is....go see Slumdog Millionaire. THEN, if you think your situation is bad - you might have room to whine. Otherwise....we should be so very thankful that we live where we live and we have the opportunities that we have.

it is a powerful story that will make you cry and will wake you up.

  1. we saw this movie when it first came here to our sundance theatre and wasn't even playing anywhere else yet and I loved it SO much and it was frustrating as nobody else I knew could see it since it wasn't playing by them yet....so I waited and waited for all my friends to see it so we could finally talk about it....and I knew it would win this year without a doubt!!

we also saw vicky christina barcelona which penelope cruz won best supporting....a great movie for people like us who love photography...but the ending was strange.

  4. ACK! I live in a very rural area, it is 80 miles round trip to a movie theater. So,.. looks like I'll have to wait for Netflix on these two. Unless I can convince my best friend we should have a Sunday adventure. You have spiked my curiosity on both of these films. Will definitely find them eventually.

  5. Char, came here because of your post title and was hoping that you loved it too.
I saw it as soon as it came out and fell in love with it. Told everyone I knew that it would win the Oscar this year and nobody believed me.
I even "reviewed" it on my blog. It is such a great movie!

  8. or read Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. it is an unforgetable book, and hugely entertaining.

  9. I wanted to see Slum Dog the minute I saw the trailer for it in the theatre. It did not disappoint. It was a moving, incredible love story ... love over money! I thought it was also a clever piece of film making - revealing his life story using the device of making him answer how he knew each correct answer. I watched it twice and loved it even more the second time.
